Becoming Muslim
You have decided and don't know what happens next? Here it is — no pressure, no hurry.
Two sentences
أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلٰهَ إِلَّا اللّٰهُ وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ
Ashhadu an la ilaha illallah wa ashhadu anna Muhammadan abduhu wa rasuluh
I bear witness that there is no god but God, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and messenger.
The declaration of faith says: there is no god but God, and Muhammad is His messenger. Whoever says it with conviction is Muslim.
A conversation first, then the witnesses
First you talk with the imam, calmly. When you are ready, you say the shahada in front of two witnesses. No fees, no paperwork, no test.
Whatever feels right for you
Not everyone wants to be seen. Tell us in the conversation how you would like it.
For later: pilgrimage or marriage
On request you receive a certificate. It is needed later, for example for the pilgrimage or a wedding.
Nobody is left alone
Guidance, lessons, a community. If you like, you get a permanent contact person.
